Casavecchia:
This truly ancient house with a tower is tucked away in one of the quietest and most exclusive parts of the farm. It has recently been restored and, while it enjoys all modern comforts, all its traditional virtues have been maintained. All the bedrooms have a marble bathroom en suite and the main bedroom has a wood burning fireplace.
The living rooms with its open fireplace is a perfect retreat on chilly evenings and takes you back to when the Matassini family, who occupied the house for 200 years, gathered around the hearth to discuss grape and olive harvests.
Casavecchia is a typical Chianti farmhouse and, with its numerous additions over the years, is almost like a hamlet. There's a magnificent view from all sides and because it is a perfect example of a particularly beautiful local farmhouse, it is frequently photographed and appears in several guide books.
The covered terrace and open balcony with a fireplace are perfect for eating outside even on cool days. There are magnificent views of the sunset from the overflowing swimming pool and by closing three small gates, little children are protected from any dangers. There is a barbecue as well as the original wood burning oven within the confines of the low walled garden.
